Helen Joyce German

Helen Joyce German, age 87, passed away early Sunday morning, June 18, 2023, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio. 

Born April 4, 1936, in Mansfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Leroy and Doris (Boor) Taylor. Helen was a veteran of the US Marine Corps where she was a meteorologist. She enjoyed a teaching career of over 30 years. Helen had an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoyed making and selling jewelry and dollhouses. She found the color yellow very intriguing.

She is survived by two sons, Daniel (Mary) German and Matthew (Patti) German; daughter-in-law, Shari German; three grandchildren, Owen German, Kira Hawk and Colton Hawk; two siblings, John (Joyce) Taylor and Karen Niziolik; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Fred Robert German; son, Steven German; and brother, Tom Taylor.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2023, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 104 W. First St., Mansfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be recited at 11:00 a.m. and she will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park. Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario is honored to serve the family.
