Ethel Hicks

Ethel Hicks, age 87, of Shelby passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Oak Grove Manor in Mansfield. 

Born March 26, 1936 to the late Troy and Virgie (Smith) Shepherd in Hueysville, Kentucky, Ethel enjoyed reading as well as shopping, traveling, and a good cup of coffee. She was happiest in the company of her family and friends. Ethel will be greatly missed and the memories made with her will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. 

Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Marshall Hicks, whom she wed on May 28, 1956; two children, Bri Anna (Rex) Coon of Sarasota, FL, and Lori Sexton of Shelby; many grandchildren; numerous siblings, nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and close friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Duane Hicks and her daughter Sheila Wenninger. 

Friends may visit the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby, Sunday June 18th, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. A funeral service will be held 12:00PM on Monday June 19, 2023 at the funeral home. Reverend Doug Tackett of the Taylortown Community Church will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery.

In place of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741
