Billy Ray Wells Sr.

Billy Ray Wells Sr., 69, of Mansfield, passed away at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital on Monday, May 29, 2023 following many years of health problems.

Billy was born January 1, 1954 in Lackey, Kentucky.  He was the son of Raymond Wells and Pauline (Chaffin) Hall.  Billy was a 1973 graduate of Madison High School.  He was employed for 22 years at Artesian Industries.  Billy enjoyed a good beer and a smoke, watching football but most of all spending time with his family that he dearly loved.  History intrigued Billy, so he could often be found watching documentaries or historical shows.

Billy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Donna Wells; his children, Billy Ray Wells, Jr., Mike Wells, and Marlene Lara; his grandchildren, Mason Wells, Drew Sanchez, Austin Wells, Sebastian Wells, Christian Wells, and Nicholas Crockett; his siblings, Debra McQuigg, Jerry (Fina) Byrd, and Raymond Wells; his sister-in-law, Carol Sharpless; many nieces and nephews; dear friend, Pat Keenan.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jacob Crockett; sister, Kathy Wells; and son-in-law, Rudy Lara.

Family and friends may visit from 5:00-7:00 pm on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield, 98 S. Diamond St.  Funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm.  He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Cemetery at a later date.
