Daniel Nelson

Daniel Bryan Nelson, age 71, of Mansfield, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, at UH Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

He was born December 22, 1951, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Thelma (Roop) and Etsil Nelson. Dan was a member of the US Navy for a total of 8 years, serving in the Vietnam War. He was helpful to others and a master of all trades. Dan retired from PPG/PGW after many years of service. Whether he was working in the yard, repairing cars or completing home improvement projects, Dan was always busy. Bitten by the travel bug, he enjoyed cruises and visiting many different places. 

Dan is survived by his wife, Sandra; sister, Ruth; sister-in-law, Marsha; nieces and nephews, Wendy (Carey), Keith (Veronica), George and Carey; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The funeral service conducted by Pastor Jay Hill will follow at 2:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Cemetery with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
