Junior Staton

Junior H. Staton, age 87, passed away Friday, May 19, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Born December 27, 1935 in Bannor County, KY to William and Opal (Tackett) Staton, he had been a Shelby resident for the majority of his life.

Junior was a crane operator working for the Shelby Tuby for many years retiring in 1998. A member of the Messiah House of Prayer in Shiloh, he had enjoyed working on cars, tinkering in his garage and tending to his lawn.

He is survived by his wife Janet (Risner) Staton whom he wed December 19, 1970; five daughters Christina Goodyear, LaVon Staton, MaLisa Staton all of Shelby, Kathy Jenkins of Texas and Brenda Walker of Utah; two granddaughters Adrianna Goodyear and Tori (Trevor) Tallman; A great-grandaughter Iris Mae, one sister Barbara Jean Lykins of Shelby; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant daughter Michelle, his son Ronnie Staton, his brother Charles Staton, two sisters Ruth Corlett, and Wilma Brown; and two grandsons Lee Edward Staton and Jayden Parker.

Friends may visit the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby Thursday, May 25th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Services will be held the next day at 10:30 AM with Reverend Bill Howell and Damon Staton officiating with interment held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh.
