BELLVILLE – The 172nd Bellville Street Fair is right around the corner.
The street fair begins Sept. 14 and continues through the 17. Highlights include live music, the fair queen contest, horse show, livestock show and various exhibits. The art show will be on display throughout the week at the Bellville Public Library.
The truck and tractor pull, which serves as the traditional prelude to the fair, takes place on Sunday, Sept. 11 behind the Bellville Jefferson Township Fire Station. Classes include 4×4 trucks, hot tractors, antique tractors and field ready tractors.
A 9/11 tribute featuring the local color guard will precede the pull at 11:30 a.m. The pull will take place immediately afterward, likely around noon.
Participants should arrive for registration around 10 a.m. the day of the pull. The entry fee is $20 per hook. The event is free for spectators.
Steven Broeski, a member of the tractor pull committee, said the annual tradition is a way to pay homage to the area’s long history in agriculture.
“Back in the day, before my time, all the local farmers got together to show off what they had,” he explained. “It’s a good hometown, small-community event.”
Monetary prizes or trophies will be awarded depending on the class.
