Monday may start your week with a bang, if the National Weather Service office in Cleveland gets it right.

The NWS has issued its dreaded “hazardous weather outlook” for all of north central Ohio on Monday afternoon and Monday night, predicting showers and thunderstorms across the area.

How accurate is the forecast? Your guess is as good as mine. When it comes to weather forecasting, it’s an art as much as a science.

Best advice? Take an umbrella today. And sunscreen. You’re covered either way, then.

Speaking of forecasting, did you hear this one yet:

What do you call it when a weather forecaster predicts the worst storm in more than 100 years … and it never rains a drop?

Very anti-climatic.

I’ll show myself out now.

Anyway …. if the area does experience thunderstorms today, they may well produce heavy rains, posing localized flooding risks, especially for areas that have repeating storms or in urban or poor drainage regions.

The strongest storms will also have the potential to produce strong winds and, in some cases, reach severe limits.

The high today will be around 84. There is also a chance of some rain Wednesday and Wednesday night. Other than that, it looks dry until Sunday.
