MADISON TOWNSHIP — The suspect in a Valentine’s Day shooting at 601 Skyline Drive has been arrested and charged with felonious assault, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Quinton Davis, 24, who witnesses allege was the shooter in the Feb. 14 incident in Madison Township, was apprehended by the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force on Wednesday evening in the 700 block of Park Avenue East, Maj. Joe Masi said.

Davis was incarcerated at the Richland County Jail after an interview, Masi said. He was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday morning in Mansfield Municipal Court.

Authorities responded to the shooting at 7:25 p.m. after Davis allegedly came into the home and shot Nicholas Ryan Wayne, 40, of 328 Louis St. in the head, according to a 911 call reporting the incident.

“Long story short, he had owed us some money… and shot (him in the head),” a witness said during the call.

Wayne was transported to a hospital and Masi said he didn’t know the victim’s current condition. Davis, whose address was listed on the report as 149 Willow St., left the scene before deputies arrived, the major said.

The case is still under investigation, he said. A 9mm shell casing was found at the scene.
