BUCYRUS – The Bucyrus City School District has announced that seventh grade student Chris Palmer will represent the district during the Tri-County Spelling Bee at 6:30 p.m. at the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center (MOESC) Thursday, Feb. 14.

Palmer finished in the Top 12 of the Crawford County Spelling Bee at Galion Middle School in January. He said this is his second year competing and he has gone farther than he expected.

“Last year I didn’t make it through the county bee and I just determined that this year I would try harder,” Palmer said. “I’ve been studying roots of words, which makes it easier to figure out how to spell them.”

“All of our students worked hard to prepare themselves for the Crawford County Spelling Bee,” Gifted Coordinator Carrie Wood said. “Now Chris has been working hard since mid-January to hone his spelling skills for the regional competition at MOESC Feb. 14.”

“I want to congratulate Chris for his strong showing at the county spelling bee last month,” Superintendent Kevin Kimmel said. “We wish Chris the best of luck in the competition.”
