MANSFIELD — A warming station will be available for those in need this week during the arctic-like temperature dip that has struck the mid west.
The Salvation Army, located at 47 S. Main Street, has partnered with the Richland County Emergency Agency to open itself up from 6 p.m. to at least 6 a.m. each day until Friday.
“They can come in if they don’t have heat and get warm,” said Rick Evans, interim-director of the Richland County Emergency Agency. “It’s not really a shelter so much as a place they can come and be warm.”
According to the National Weather Service, Mansfield is due for frigid temperatures.Â
Tuesday will see a high near 14 degrees. The wind chill is expected to be as low as -7 degrees.
Wednesday, will see a high near -4, with wind chill values as low as -37. At night, expect a low around -11 with wind chill values as low as -29. West wind is expected to reach 11 to 14 mph.
Thursday, a high near 4 degrees is predicted. Thursday evening, there is a slight chance of snow showers with a low around 1.
On Friday, expect a high near 19 with a slight chance of snow flurries. In the evening, the NWS says to expect a low around 9.
There is a wind chill warning for Richland County from 7 p.m. Tuesday until 4 p.m. on Thursday.
