Thursday’s outing turned into an endurance test that Lancaster passed in a 53-44 victory at Logan’s expense in Ohio girls basketball action on January 2.

The Chieftains’s heartbreak could be traced to a disappointing final quarter, when they were outscored 18-6 by the Gales.

The Chieftains moved ahead by earning a 38-35 advantage over the Gales at the end of the third quarter.

Logan took a 29-23 lead over Lancaster heading to halftime locker room.

The two teams dueled to an even start, with the Gales and the Chieftains settling for a 12-12 first-quarter knot.
