SHELBY — For many, an outside workout means having to run, but Lukes Houser is looking to show others there is more ways to work up a sweat.
Houser, a personal trainer for the Shelby YMCA, will be leading the first outdoor workout class at the Y.
“Whoever comes has a chance to be led by a trainer as opposed to being on their own,” Caitlin McKelvey, the Shelby YMCA chief executive officer said. “Most people think running is all you can do outside, but Luke has a mix of crossfit and other types of cardio prepared.
“Houser began working with youth sports at the Y, then later became a certified personal trainer.
“It’s always been a goal of mine to help people, and to better their life.” Houser said. “Whether that means losing weight or getting motivation.”
The classes will be happening Wednesday evenings in the summer from 5 to 6 p.m. Each class will cost $5 for non-members of the Shelby YMCA.
