ASHLAND (UPDATED at 3 p.m. with funeral arrangements) – The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of Sgt. Timothy Kitts, who worked for the agency for more than 25 years.
According to a press release, Kitts, 51, passed away Thursday at this home.
Kitts started working with the Sheriff’s Office on June 6, 1991, and currently was serving with K-9 Meeko as the day shift patrol sergeant.
Kitts had worked in several positions during his 25-plus years with the Sheriff’s Office including special deputy, dispatcher, corrections officer and patrol deputy. He was promoted to sergeant on June 2, 2001, and became a K-9 handler in 2002.
Kitts had received numerous awards over the years for his work and earned several certifications as a trainer.
“The sheriff’s office is saddened by his loss and will miss Sgt. Kitts,” according to the press release.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church on Davis Road in Ashland where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Following the funeral, a motorcade will travel to Ashland Memorial Park where Kitts will be buried.
