MANSFIELD — Criminals beware. Superman has been spotted soaring through downtown Mansfield.

“I saw him pause for a moment at the Chase building, then took off with a ‘whoosh,’ ” said Sam Young, who described the moment which led to an accident with the car ahead of him.

The incident lasted just moments on the corner of the Richland Carrousel on Main Street and Fourth Street.

In the other car, Sarah Russell, who said she was driving to her French class where she teaches at St. Peter’s High School said the noise of the caped caper distracted her.

“I didn’t see him, but I heard him,” she said. “I guess I’m glad he is here, but the Mansfield Police Department was doing fine.”

An unidentified flying object was seen earlier last week. Some have speculated it’s the Man of Steel from Krypton.

“At first I thought it was a flock of chickens,” said Josh Werner, who called in to Richland Source Thursday, April 30. “But it moved so fast. Chickens are not the best aviators.”

Strange Resemblance

But now, with photo evidence taken by Young, one can see it’s not a bird — or a plane — but Superman in a blue suit with an ‘S’ on his chest and a red cape.
