OLIVESBURG — The Crestview Educational Foundation awarded eight scholarships to Crestview High School graduating seniors at senior awards night Friday evening held in the Crestview High School auditorium.

The first scholarship presented was the Sara Dinsmore $1,000 scholarship. Ms. Dinsmore was present to award Jenna Purvis the scholarship. Jenna plans to enroll at The Ohio State University in education. Ms. Dinsmore is a long standing resident of the Savannah-Crestview area and former teacher in the high school.

The Betty and Harold Daup $750 scholarship was presented by Jacque Daup, son of Betty and Harold Daup, to Renee Stimpert. Renee will be attending Ashland University in the Fall also majoring in education. Mr. Harold Daup was the first superintendent when the Crestview Local School District was established back in the early 1960s.

The third named scholarship was the Dorothy L. Oswalt $500 scholarship awarded to Lukes Givens. The scholarship was established by Mrs. Oswalt’s family in her honor. Making the presentation was her daughter, Barbara Oswalt Davis. Mrs. Oswalt was a resident of the Crestview School district and former librarian at Crestview High School. After raising her children she went back and earned her teaching degree and taught briefly in the Shelby City Schools. Lukes plans on attending Mt. Vernon Nazarene University in Middle Childhood education.

The Trent Family $500 scholarship was awarded to Caitlyn Fulk, who plans on attending The Ohio State University majoring in nursing. Brenda and Greg Trent and their children are residents of the Crestview School District. Greg is president of the Trent Insurance Group established in 1993 in Norwalk, Ohio. Trent Insurance has since grown into the areas of Orrville, Shreve, Wooster, Wellington and Shelby.

The Loyd Dalton Athletic scholarship was awarded to Macie Restille. Macie plans on attending Marion Technical College in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Mr. Dalton was a resident of the Savannah, Ohio area and a stand-out athlete while attending Savannah High School. Many of his family members still reside in the Savannah area.

The three-$500 CEF scholarships were awarded to Savannah Cline, Kayla Jeffery and Kelcie Chance. Savannah plans to attend The Ohio State University in Veterinarian Medicine; Kayla, OSU-Mansfield in pre-med; and, Kelcie, Ashland University in nursing.

The CEF was established in 2011 and its mission is to provide scholarships and teacher grants. If a donor contributes $10,000 or more to the Foundation, then a scholarship is awarded in that donor’s name.
