GALION, Ohio — The Galion City School District Board of Education recognized a group of Galion High School students during the regular monthly meeting April 16. These students received commendations for their academic, artistic and athletic accomplishments.

The 24 high school students receiving Board of Education commendations during the meeting included: Jacob Bash, Distinction of National Merit Scholarship Finalist; Addison Zeisler, Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Program; Jacob Dretzka, United States Senate Youth Program representative; Cherokee Deloach, Kennedy Gregg, and Addison Zeisler, Governor’s Youth Art Exhibit Regional winners; Claire Erlsten, Governor’s Youth Art Exhibit State winner; Lucas Conner, Samuel DeNero, Luke Eisnaugle, John Finch, Chad Karnes, Samuel Rigdon, Landon Rose, and Evan Zumbro, 2015 Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Boys Swimming champions; Lucas Conner, Samuel DeNero, Luke Eisnaugle, John Finch, Chad Karnes, Samuel Rigdon, Landon Rose, and Evan Zumbro, individual Boys Swimming Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference award winners and State Swim Meet recognitions; Molly Barker and Kennedy Gregg, individual Girls Swimming Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference award winners; Taylor Valentine and Marisa Gwinner, individual Girls Basketball Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference award winners; Houston Blair and Coy Van Tilburg, individual Boys Basketball Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference award winners; Drake Barnett, Deaken McCoy, Nicholas McDaniel, and Ryan Talbott, individual Wrestling Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference award winners and State Wrestling tournament recognition. 

“These individuals represent some of the top students at Galion High School,” Superintendent Mark Stefanik said. “Recognizing student achievements and accomplishments is one of the highlights of any Board of Education meeting, and I want to congratulate each of these students on a job well done.”
