The Shelby Foundation has made a $25,000 investment in the Mansfield campus of The Ohio State University at Mansfield and North Central State College in support of renovations to the Bromfield Library and Information Commons as part of the But for Ohio State Mansfield capital campaign.

Lynn Friebel, director of the Shelby Foundation noted that the gift was just an extension of the Shelby Foundation mission – to build a legacy of community philanthropy by connecting generosity with community needs.”Our goal is to help the community educate young students.” she stated. “Its to help students receive the education that they deserve and to entice them to stay in the area.”

The But For Ohio State Mansfield campaign’s identifies the Bromfield Library and Information Commons top priority. Upgrades focus on improving building infrastructure and creating a twenty-first century learning environment. The news space will include new media development lab and sound studio for creation of mixed media classroom, and distance learning materials; an instructional lab; improved circulation area; six group study rooms; and, a more bright, spacious atrium.

Dr. Dorey Diab, president of North Central State College, and Dr. Stephen Gavazzi, dean and director of Ohio State Mansfield, were both on hand to express thanks to the foundation. The renovated space will serve both Ohio State Mansfield and North Central State College students, staff, and faculty by offering services for math, writing, and advising centers.

The Shelby Foundation gift brings the But for Ohio State Mansfield capital campaign total to nearly $1.9 million of its $3 million goal. The three strategic priorities for the campaign are $2 million for the Bromfield Library and Information Commons, $500,000 for the Business and Industry Internship Program; and, $500,000 for Scholarships.
