Thelma Kearns, 62, of Mansfield, Ohio went home to be with the Lord after passing unexpectedly due to a short illness on February 22, 2024. Thelma was born on July 3, 1961, to Charles Jr. and Marion (Lewis) King in Mansfield, Ohio. Thelma graduated from Madison Comprehensive High School in 1979.
For the last 40 years, Thelma was married to her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Kevin Kearns who together went on to have three children, Joshua, Kelley, and Kory.
Thelma worked at Raintree caring for individuals with disabilities for 27 years. She loved what she did and caring for them brought her joy. After an early retirement, Thelma returned to work as a pharmacy technician at CVS Pharmacy where she worked for the last 12+ years.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charles King III and his wife, Pat King; brother-in-law, Dave Neighbors; sister-in-law, Lorie Smith; and lifelong friend, Cheryl Gregory.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin; her children, Joshua (Diana Santa) Kearns, Kelley (Taylor) Groscost, Kory (“Girl Cory” Linkous) Kearns; her siblings, Sheila Neighbors, Patty (Jim) Bertka, Carolyn (Richard Skinner) King, and Jesse King; mother and father-in-law, Tom and Linda Kearns; brother-in-law, Chris (Amy Russo) Kearns; numerous nieces; and two beautiful granddaughters, Tahlia and Tulsi Groscost, to whom she was affectionately known as Mammy.
When Thelma was not too busy spoiling her children and grandchildren, her hobbies were collecting seashells and working puzzles. She was the strongest and most caring woman. She was always helping everyone else and putting them before herself. Thelma was an amazing wife, the very best mother, loving daughter and daughter-in-law, a caring sister, a loyal friend, the proudest Mammy, and the embodiment of selflessness. She always said that her children and grandchildren were her greatest accomplishments and she always cherished her “Mammy Mondays” with Tahlia and looked forward to those days with Tulsi. She will be dearly and forever missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. She will always be her family’s sun, moon, and all their stars.
