Portsmouth breathed fire to a 55-20 lead heading into the final quarter.

The Trojans held on with a 6-5 scoring edge in the fourth quarter.

Last season, Portsmouth and South Point faced off on Feb. 9, 2023 at South Point High School.

In recent action on Jan. 25, South Point faced off against Proctorville Fairland and Portsmouth took on Chesapeake on Jan. 25 at Chesapeake High School.
