MANSFIELD, Ohio – A boat fully engulfed in flames in Mansfield on Tuesday morning was extinguished quickly by the Mansfield Fire Department.

According to Chief Steve Strickling, the boat was filled with trash that could have contributed to the flames igniting.

He described circumstances surround the fire as “suspicious.”

“The cause is still under investigation,” said Strickling.

As of Tuesday morning, firefighters had not yet made contact with the owner of the boat. Strickling stated the department is assuming the owners live at 306 E. 1st St.

The call came at approximately 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
