David C. Gassaway

We celebrate the life of David C. Gassaway. Born January 29, 1951, in Mansfield, Ohio. Died July 15, 2023, at 72 years of age after a long illness.

Dave attended and graduated from St. Peter’s Catholic school then went on to work at White Westinghouse until its closure. He then enjoyed driving over the road and as a courier. He especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and loved all things mechanical. Dave was very talented at creating his own inventions and could fix anything.

He is survived by his sister, Emmilia Hartney of Montana; his children, David C. J. Gassaway of Queens and Julia Gassaway of Cleveland; son-in-law, John Cahlik of Cleveland; grandchildren, Jaiden and Joslyn Cahlik; former spouse, Marta Richardson; niece, Katy Brimhall; nephew, Mark Hartney; as well as many cousins and great cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Marylin Gassaway; and mother, Mary Gassaway.

His ashes will be placed to rest in the Mansfield Cemetery.
