MADISON TOWNSHIP — Kaden Mullins and Seth Ohl were battery mates at Madison and are now teammates on the Ohio Cardinal Conference first team baseball squad.
Mullins, a senior catcher headed to Shawnee State, and Ohl, a junior left-hander, were recognized when the All-OCC teams were announced late last week. They were joined on the OCC first team by Lexington senior and Ashland University recruit Chase Carter, who will play for Ashlan and Ashland senior Chase Hunt, who is headed to Ohio Dominican.
Ohio Cardinal Conference champion Wooster swept the individual awards. Ohio State recruit Tyler Pettorini was selected the Player of the year, while sophomore Elisha Steiner was the Pitcher of the Year. Wooster’s Steve Young was the Coach of the Year after leading the Generals to an 11-1 mark in the OCC, two game clear of runner-up West Holmes (9-3).
Mount Vernon’s Trenton Kane-Sapp, Blake Meyer and Konner Daughriety all earned spots on the OCC first team, along with Wooster’s Blake Bowen and Chris Franks and West Holmes’ Noah Clark and Nate Ginsburg.
Lexington’s Gabe Hamilton and Cole Pauley were second team picks, as were Madison’s Jaekob Conard and Ashland’s John Metzger. They were joined on the second team by Mount Vernon’s Jonny Askew and Caden Rowland, Wooster’s Zach Harpster and Jack Williams and West Holmes’ Tyler Gallion, Rudy Hershberger and Micah Martin.
Honorable mention selections included Ashland’s Logan Fulk and Kamden Mowry, Lexington’s Kevan Grimm, Madison’s Cole Applegate and Brennyn Shonk, Mansfield Senior’s Joshua Henley and Quintin Little, Mount Vernon’s Owynn Gleason and Logan Trace, Wooster’s Drew Becker and Karson Coblentz and West Holmes’ Brady Smith and Luke Vess.
