GALION – A group of Galion Middle School students showcased the building’s leadership development program, LEAD, during the regular meeting of the Galion City School District Board of Education Feb. 19.
Steven Glew, Jackson Hart, Cooper Kent, Jaxon Oehler and Emma Ross shared information about the activities they have helped organize for the school and the various programs involved in the GMS LEAD program.
“These students represent a much larger group who have taken the responsibility to be leaders in the building,” Middle School Principal Paul Wheeler said. “We are very proud of the future leaders we are developing for our community.”
The board accepted a donation from the Crawford County Partnership for Education and Economic Development. The organization’s donation provides the support needed for the district’s Leader in Me program.
“The Leader in Me program is a valuable asset for our district, and we appreciate the support provided by the Crawford Partnership and Gary Frankhouse,” Superintendent Jim Grubbs said. “The program’s impact was evident during the students’ presentation to the board, and we’re excited for the future of leadership development in the Galion City Schools.”
The board approved all personnel items and agreements following the student achievement and Superintendent’s reports. The board moved to executive session with no additional action taken.
The Galion City School District Board of Education will conduct a work session starting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5. The board’s regular meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Galion Middle School computer lab Tuesday, March 19.
