LEXINGTON – The Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Friday it has identified the vehicle and driver of a hit-skip crash on Dec. 21 in Lexington.
Although the OSHP did not disclose the name of the driver, it stated that the individual is cooperating with law enforcement.
Formal charges will be presented to the Richland County Prosecutors Office for review, and the crash remains under investigation, the agency noted in a press release.
The patrol reported a pedestrian was struck on U.S. 42 at Plymouth Street in Lexington last month. The vehicle then drove away from the scene at approximately 6:38 p.m.
The patrol said in its preliminary investigation that a large blue pick-up truck was turning left from Plymouth Street onto U.S. 42 and proceeded north while striking Randal Ortolf, 64, of Lexington as he crossed the road. The large blue pick-up truck then drove away northbound on U.S. 42 towards Mansfield.
Ortolf was injured and taken to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital.
If anyone has any information about this case they are encouraged to call the Mansfield Post at 419-756 -2222.
