It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mary Ellen Tesso, a beloved member of the Crestline community. Mary Ellen, born on August 25, 1936, enriched the lives of those around her with her unwavering kindness and vibrant spirit. She peacefully departed from this world on February 22, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever be held close to the hearts of her loved ones.
A devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crestline, Mary Ellen found solace and strength in her faith. She also found joy in the camaraderie of the Women’s Bowling League at Park Lanes, where she formed lasting friendships and shared many laughter-filled moments. Mary Ellen’s passions were varied and plentiful; she took delight in watching Dirt Track Races at venues such as Attica and Fremont, reveling in the thrill of the sport. A fervent fan of NASCAR, she derived immense joy from following the races and cheering on her favorite drivers.
Beyond her love for sports, Mary Ellen found comfort in the peaceful art of crocheting and quilting, creating beautiful pieces that served as testaments to her artistry. She had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, enjoying fishing trips and visits to county fairs where she delighted in observing the array of animals. Mary Ellen had a special fondness for tractor pulls, relishing the excitement of these events. In moments of quiet reflection, she could often be found immersed in a good book, expanding her knowledge, and immersing herself in the world of literature.
Mary Ellen’s memory will be forever cherished by her daughter Carol Tesso, her brother Milo McGown, Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, Milo and Louise (Dawson) McGown, former spouse Joseph Tesso, brother, Russell McGown, and sister-in-law, Betty McGown.
Friends may call on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 W. Main Street, Crestline, from 11:00am to 1:00pm. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00pm with Father Jeff Smith officiating.
