Mansfield: Mark A. Cooper passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 at OhioHealth Mansfield from an apparent heart attack; he was 67 years old.

Mark was born January 13, 1957 in Columbus to parents William T. & Constance (Nesbitt) Cooper. His family moved to Lexington when he was very young; he went on to graduate from Lexington High School (class of 1975) and attended The Ohio State University where he obtained his Bachelors and Masters degree in Marketing.

Mark worked as a Sales Rep., Director of Marketing and eventually as the GM for Gorman Rupp Industries in Bellville, Ohio for many years before deciding to open a Minuteman Press Franchise in Ontario, Ohio. Owning his own business fulfilled a dream and although he worked long hours, he loved every single minute of it!

Mark was always a sports enthusiast, he played everything from little league baseball to basketball and football at Lexington High School. He then went on to play intramural sports at OSU and many softball and basketball leagues as an adult. Mark enjoyed all Cleveland sports: Cavaliers, Browns and Guardians, but his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes were his passion, he truly bled scarlet and gray! The Ohio State vs. Michigan game was his most stressful yet absolute favorite day of the year. Mark was also a huge fan of the The Ohio State women’s tennis team where his stepdaughter Melissa coaches; he rarely missed a match and if he did, he was watching online.

His sudden passing leaves behind an extended loving family who mourns his loss greatly. He loved to help with projects whether it be painting, landscaping or building, he’d grab his tools and be on the way. He was our guy; he was our rock. In the last three years, Mark truly cherished adding grandchildren, they brought him a joy he didn’t know existed and his family so enjoyed watching these sweet relationships emerge. He was one of a kind and will be deeply missed by so many.

In addition to his mother Constance Brody, Mark is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Mindy Cooper; son Jason (Amy) Cooper; step-children Melissa (Amy) Schaub, Ty (Martina) Schaub, Courtney (Jeremy) Fleming and grandchildren: Mia and Callum Fleming and Quinn and Avery Schaub; step mother Marianne Cooper, siblings: Craig (Diane) Cooper, Leslie Cooper and special nephew Nathan Sanders. Step sisters and brother: Janet Brody, Judy Brody, Cheryl (Brody) Welch, Kendra (John) Gagne and Kent (Barbara) Cooper, as well as numerous other cherished nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his father William T. Cooper, stepfather Stanley Brody, mother in law Constance (Cooper) Wolf, father in laws, William N. Cooper and Robert Wolf, step brother Donald Brody.

Although no public service will be held in Mark’s memory at this time, his family hopes you will remember him in your own special way.
