Darrell G. Harless, beloved husband, father, brother and friend passed away on February 11, 2024 at the age of 77. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Born in Louisa, Kentucky on January 8, 1947, Darrell was the son of Verlin Harless and Ethel Chaffin/Harless/Dalton. They later moved to Mansfield, Ohio where he grew up, met his wife Vivian Lorretta Gee/Harless and raised his family.
Darrell was devoted to Vivian and together they had three sons Darrell G. Harless Jr., William V. Harless, and Randall M. Harless. He was a loving father who always put his family first and cherished spending time with them and his grandchildren.
For many years Darrell worked at and retired from Gorman-Rupp Pumps, where he was a dedicated employee known for his hardworking nature and made a lasting impression on those he worked with and served.
In his free time Darrell enjoyed fishing, bowling, and hunting. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved his fishing boats and tackle and his hunting dogs. He loved nothing more than to be out in the woods or on a lake.
In his later years, Darrell battled cancer, severe asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease which he faced with patience and courage. Despite those challenges, he never lost his competitive spirit or his open heartedness.
Darrell is survived by his wife Vivian Lorretta Harless, his loving twin brother Garrell, his sons Darrell, William, Randall, their spouses, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.
He wished to be cremated and his ashes scattered in nature. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Ohiowildlifecenter.org in Darrell’s memory.
Rest in peace, Darrell. Your legacy of love and kindness will live forever in our hearts.
