MILLERSBURG — Lexington wrapped up an outright Ohio Cardinal Conference boys basketkball championship on Friday night — and the Minutemen did it without suspense.

Lex erupted in the first quarter and never really stopped in collecting a convincing 69-34 victory at West Holmes.

Lex ripped off a 21-11 first-quarter spree and owned a 40-16 halftime bulge. Coach Scott Hamilton’s squad enjoyed a 60-27 margin heading to the final period. The spread reached 38 at one point as the Minuten coasted home.

Elijah Hudson topped a balanced Lexington scoring column with 15 points. Gavin Husty contributed 11 points and Seven Allen chipped in 10. Joe Caudill had eight points and 12 rebounds and Brayden Fogle added eight points and seven rebounds.

Lexington dominated the glass with a 42-24 rebounding gap, leading to a 17-8 advantage in second-chance points.

Nate Fair chalked up 15 points for West Holmes, but he was the lone double-figure scorer for the hosts.

The Minutemen are now 19-1, 13-0 in the OCC. They will complete the OCC portion of the schedule next Friday at Mount Vernon. Lex will finish the regular season on Feb. 17 at home against state-ranked Ottawa-Glandorf and Ohio State signee Colin White.

West Holmes dropped to 2-15, 0-12 and plays at Madison on Saturday night.
