NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central had two players honored when the All-Ohio volleyball teams were released last week.
Senior outside hitter Lauren Mann was a second team pick in Division IV, while senior liber and defensive specialist Parker Phenicie was an honorable mention selection.
Mann and Phenicie led Buckeye Central to a sectional title and a district runner-up finish. The Buckettes fell to eventual regional champion Monroeville in the district finals.
Mann led Buckeye Central with 196 kills. Phenicie was second in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference with 367 digs and had 59 aces with just 17 service errors and a .953 serve percentage.
Buckeye Central was a perfect 14-0 in N10 play, winning the conference crown for the third straight year. The Buckettes have won five of the past six conference championships.
Also in Division IV, Lucas junior Shelby Grover was an All-Ohio special mention selection. She had 344 kills on the season, including a single-game record 31 against South Central. Grover also had 63 blocks and 337 digs.
In Division III, Wynford senior Averi McMillan and Colonel Crawford junior Rylee Ritzhaupt were both honorable mention picks.
A middle hitter, McMillan had 228 kills and led the Northern 10 Athletic Conference with 97 blocks. She also had 263 assists, helping the Royals to 17-6 overall record and a runner-up finish in the N10.
Ritzhaupt, an outside hitter, had 337 kills. The Eagles were 16-7 on the season and 9-5 in N10 play.
