MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Division of Police would like to remind the community of a valued program designed to assist those who may suffer from wandering away due to medical conditions outside of their control.

“Project Lifesaver” is a free program designed to protect and locate missing persons due to wandering tendencies by using a radio transmitter.

Project Lifesaver

“Project Lifesaver” is for individuals, young and older, who have Alzheimer’s, Autism, Down Syndrome, and other developmental disabilities that may result in them becoming disoriented, from time to time, and getting lost.

This program places transmitters on those identified persons who are afflicted with the above-mentioned disorders, in an effort to quickly locate them.

“Project Lifesaver” is comprised of local volunteers with 100% of donations in Richland County going to fund equipment for those in the program (please see attached brochure for donation information).

The Richland County “Project Life Saver” program was developed in cooperation with local Lions and Lioness Clubs, Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association, Inc., the Northwest Ohio Chapter New Hope and the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.

Please direct any questions concerning the program as well as those who may qualify to the local “Area Agency on Aging, Inc.” at (419) 524-4144 or toll free at 1-800-860-5799. If you are interested in donating to the program, please contact: “Richland County Project Lifesaver,” Lions Club member Ray Kasper at 419-564-2235 or see attached brochure for an address to send donations.
