The 3 Key Things series was created to symbolize the three key areas that a young person has to develop in order to become a successful young professional.

On April 10, Richland Young Professionals (RYP) will continue its 3 Key Things series through Zoom, inviting anyone to listen in on the next event “Creative Problem Solving: Never Staying Stuck in Work or Life.”

“It really was important to us that we continue to offer opportunities like this despite what’s going on around us right now,” said Suzanna Hammond, RYP professional development co-chair.

The event would normally be hosted through the “Lunch and Learn” sessions at Hudson and Essex, but due to the COVID-19 outbreak, RYP board members decided to continue their monthly presentations virtually.

The 3 Key Things series was created to symbolize the three key areas that a young person has to develop in order to become a successful young professional.

Chris McAlister, author of five books and founder of SightShift—a company that helps ambitious people be courageous and kind—will speak to attendees for 45 minutes and offer his insight on creative problem solving and developing leadership skills.

McAlister has authored five books, spoken to thousands of people and loves the work of helping others unblock their best leadership. His book “The Stuck Book: Pick This up When You Don’t Know What to Do Next” will be given out for free to all attendees as an eBook.

Hammond said McAlister was an excellent choice to speak with young professionals.

“He has worked with a bunch of staff and leadership teams to help people develop their leadership skills and he is also a young professional himself,” she said.

Despite what’s going on in the world, Hammond wants to provide normalcy and hopefully give people a chance to continue to grow themselves.

“RYP’s mission is to help Richland County and its young professionals to connect, collaborate and thrive… And we think professional opportunities like this are a really great way to do that,” she said.

The webinar will occur on April 10 from noon to 1 p.m. General admission is $10, but students can get in for $8. Buy tickets on Facebook or on Eventbrite.
