MANSFIELD — Dayspring Assisted Living and Care Facility exhaled on Tuesday night.
The facility’s five-year, 0.08 mil renewal levy passed with 73.62 percent of the vote, according to unofficial Richland County Board of Elections results.
“I’m thrilled; I’m so proud of Richland County,” said Dayspring executive director Michelle Swank. “I’ve been texting with our staff and they are so excited too.”
Throughout the night, the unofficial results from the Richland County Board of Elections showed Dayspring’s levy passing convincingly.
“On behalf of Dayspring, we want to thank the county,” Swank said. “Your support allows us to be here. So to all those who voted ‘yes,’ thank you.”
The only publicly funded assisted living facility in the area uses 71 percent of the tax money it receives for operations and without the levy, the care facility would be unable to operate.
The care facility uses property tax, Swank said, so they are dependent on a good economy.
“We are never worry-free,” she said. “But we are grateful to not have to pass another levy for five years.”
Swank said she would to have those who voted ‘no’ on the levy to come visit the facility.
“So we we can earn your support,” she said.
