This blog is written by one of 15 individuals attending the South By Southwest Conference in Austin with the intention to bring back ideas and to reimagine Richland County.

Dear SXSW,

Ouch! Because of you, I’ve made a few appointments upon my return to Mansfield.

ben davis

After walking over five miles a day with a book bag full of stuff (from countless vendors) my body has applied for emancipation, but my brain has requested more! This experience has opened my eyes to what is truly possible in our beautiful city! It has been a true honor to attend the amazing SXSW, and through all of the pain and sleep deprivation I would do it again next week!

People of Another Kind (not race, not gender, not religion, not profession, etc.) have invaded Austin, Texas with a goal to change the world as they know it, and after speaking to countless people they’re eager to get back to their communities and begin the process of a better tomorrow.

Two major takeaways:

• The longer you do nothing, the stronger nothing gets!

• Just because it works doesn’t mean you can’t make it better!

Wu Tang

And before it was WAKANDA FOREVER! It was WU TANG FOREVER!

Sincerely,

Benjamin Davis, SXSW Survivor

p.s. Lastly, to The Dear Diet, let’s meet on Sunday and figure out how we are going to move forward. Sorry for abandoning you for Tex Mex, BBQ, and everything else that’s a must-have in Austin!

Forever Yours,

Serial Carb Collector
