MANSFIELD — (UPDATED 1:51 P.M.) The portion of South Main Street in Mansfield that was closed Tuesday morning following an early-morning crash is now open to traffic, reports Mansfield Police Department.

An early morning car crash into a utility pole caused a portion of Mansfield to lose power and clogged traffic along South Main Street.

The Mansfield Police Department said in a press release authorities are investigating the crash that involved one vehicle. The release said the driver lost control. It was unclear if anyone was hurt in the crash.

Greenwood Avenue to Prospect Avenue along South Main Street has been closed and it is anticipated that it will remain closed until late morning while an Ohio Edison crew works to restore power in the area.

Commuters are encouraged to avoid the traffic section by finding an alternative route, said the press release.
